Take Time

Summer solstice supreme . . .
Must have elevensies outside.

Hmm . . . what's lurking in the chair?

 Why, it's Auburn Waves showing off her stitches.

Take time to stand and stare . . .

Then, finish that final section before the deadline.

Well . . .

Hello, summer

First and Last

My garden is a melody that's sweetly sung in tune.
 first Queen of Sweden

My garden is the Mary Rose that's newly sprung in June.
 first Mary Rose

Ye flowery banks, how can ye blume sae fair?
 first Winchester Cathedral

So fair art thou in spite of winter's blare.
 first Julia Child

So, in defiance I shall grow thee in the sun,
first pumpkin plant

While the shifting sands o' life still sweetly run,

first lavender and aster

And the sultry suns of summer fame

first coneflower

Ripen berries to their fleeting flame.
first strawberry

* * *

With bending joints and drooping heads
The flowers begin to fail.
last peony

The colours sicken and fade to dead
And all grows wan and pale.
 last anemone

The garden
              will make a man forget his woe;
              will heighten all his joy;
              will make the widow's heart to sing,
              tho' the tear were in her eye.

Holy Smokes . . .

Yesterday this blog had its 10,000th visitor!
Thank you all for taking the time to call in to Fair Ground.
I'm thrilled!

For those interested in photography apps,
this photo was altered using the app  Glaze.
Thanks, Ann.
(A neat way for Bunny to show off her new stuffie.)

Auburn Waves

 Julie at Needle Emporium is running a KAL
with the pattern Auburn Waves by Mam'sell Flo.

Tonight my AW wanted, for some reason, to be photographed around my home.
 AW likes my new ironing board cover and wanted to show it off.

  AW likes the book I'm reading, Missing Microbes.
It describes how the overuse of antibiotics is fueling our modern plagues.

 AW likes Jerry Seinfeld's web series
Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.

AW likes the palette for an upcoming online course,
Birds in Watercolour.

But, AW likes to be with Bun the best of all.
What a silly post . . .

P.S. I've corrected the title of the pattern. July 4th must be closing in.
