Another Characteristic

Unfortunately, last Friday Bunny displayed another characteristic of a 5 year old. Somehow, somewhere she was exercising her sense of physical power and sprained her knee. Ever the stoic, she didn't tell anyone.

She limped quite noticeably, but could walk it out.

 However, following a quiet time she'd get up only to limp again.

She took to standing on the tip toes of her right leg 

so I wouldn't become overly frantic.

She never went off her food . . . 

 and continued to eat with gusto knowing that would keep me calm.

But, she preferred to lie on her 'good' leg,

to protect the hurt knee from added pressure.

Here's hoping 5 ( hey, 5! ) days of meds does the trick.

She can still have her walks, but no ball chasing for awhile.

Oh, Bunny . . . 

Characteristics of a Five Year Old

Five year olds are cheerful, energetic and enthusiastic.

 They especially enjoy dramatic play.

 They enjoy sharing jokes . . . 

 and seek adult approval.

 They are able to memorize their address . . . 

 and understand that books are read 

from left to right, top to bottom.

 During the day they need a balance of rest and activity.

 Five year olds may be able to tie shoelaces . . .

 and can place objects from biggest to smallest.

They enjoy collecting things,

like to feel grown up,

and can walk downstairs, alternating feet without

using the handrail.

Well done, Bunny girl. You are meeting all your developmental milestones.

Today I Am 5

So, what does 5 mean?

5 means I can't be held like this any longer.

 5 means cats are not something to roll around with any more.

 There are 5 openings in my face.

 I have 5 digits on each paw.

 5 is the fifth Fibonacci number.

There are 5 elements in Chinese philosophy.

It is the square root of 25, 

and it is the only prime number whose last digit is 5.

5 is the symbol of perfection in ancient Mayan culture.

There are the 5 virtues of wisdom, 

love, truth, goodness and justice.

In numerology 5 means divine grace.

Today I am 5.

Knitting Catch Up

Last October (!) I wanted something to accessorize blue denim. 

Sniffing around I found . . . 

. . . The Fibre Company's Quaking Aspen Shawl 

using their own Acadia 

which is merino, alpaca and silk.

 An easy pattern and lovely yarn, but too much of it left over.

 The lace worked up quickly.

It's heading for the B and B today.

 It must go from its current measurement of 38"x20" to 60"x24". 

Yikes.

Next project on the needles - a Swoncho.

This MUST be completed in 4 weeks.
